Susan Lake splits her time between San Diego and Palm Springs where she
designs unique “wearable art” hats. Her “one of a kind” headwear creations are known for their drama, color
and unique size and shapes. Susan’s hats celebrate the glamour, mood and drama that is TANGO!
Known as the TANGOAFFICIONADO of San Diego, this fascinating choreographer
and producer eventually took her creative talents into the design world. Bringing the stunning
shapes, colors and sizes that mimic the fluid movements of drama and dance, Susan Lake creates
award-winning HATS! Currently living between San Diego and Palm Springs, California, her
“wearable art” and “Opening Day at the Races” collections, have won her many awards and commissions.
In 2000 and again in 2001, Susan’s design talents led her to become the Set designer for the National
Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Annual Pacific Southwest “EMMY” show under then President,
Ester Jane Paul. In the same year, Susan received the “Golden Hanger” award for the Accessory Designer
of the Year, FCC.

Susan is now known for her stunning hats and lecture series that she appropriately calls,
“The Art of the Hat”!
