Susan Lake has been a major contributor to San Diego’s visual and performing arts community. Susan Lakes experience, standard of excellence and outstanding artistic talents have made her a sought after Artistic Director, Producer and Project Developer. Susan’s expertise and knowledge of the Tango, has led her to be invited to speak at such renowned arts centers as Escondido Center for the Arts and Mary Birch, North Park Theater, in San Diego California where she lectured before the opening of TANGO PASION and the 2008 production of TANGO FIRE.

Susan has been a featured guest on the KUSI local morning news station in San Diego, California where she promoted the TANGO BALL of which she produced for eight years and as featured Headwear Designer for OPENING DAY, Del Mar Race Track.

Susan Lake splits her time between San Diego and Palm Springs where she designs unique “wearable art” hats. Her “one of a kind” headwear creations are known for their drama, color and unique size and shapes. Susan’s hats celebrate the glamour, mood and drama that is TANGO!

The TANGO BALL, now in its 8th year is the longest running, most successful event of its kind. The TANGO BALL, is considered one of San Diego’s most celebrated Latin Cultural events, and contributes to the cities attraction as an Art & Culture destination. The TANGO BALL, is a spectacular, colorful evening filled with music, dance a fabulous floorshow and dinner. This event attracts local community attendance as well as National and International guests.

In January 2004, Susan Lake formed and organized The World Council for Argentine Tango Events (WCARTE). As President of this Council, along with outstanding Nationally acclaimed Dance Educator Kathryn Irey, and Internationally acclaimed Tango stars Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo, presented their first event. This organization is dedicated to the development and procurement of Latin cultural events. The event, THE INTERNATIONAL ARGENTINETANGO SHOWCASE/COMPETITION, was held at the historic INN SUITES-LAFAYETTE HOTEL. This event, brought an international clientele as well as local and state visitors to the area as part of the upscale attractions in this redevelopment location. The event was supported by City officials as well as the El Cajon Business Improvement District. The weekend featured traditional, classical and modern dance instruction, an exciting showcase of dance competitors with fabulous floorshows that highlighted International and regional performers.

Susan Lake is responsible for reshaping the look of the “Hats Off” Fashion event held at the Four Season’s Resort Aviara , Carlsbad, California for the Del Mar Unit of Children’s Hospital Auxiliary . In 2003, Susan redesigned and regenerated the sparkle in this event causing its audience and fund raising numbers to dramatically increase.
